Central Park closure and planned march

New Delhi Municipal Council announced that Central Park at Connaught Place would be closed to the public on 16 and 17 October 2026 for administrative reasons. The notice came as the Cockroach Janta Party, led by Abhijeet Dipke, planned a Tricolour march at the central Delhi location. The closure notice and the court proceedings are separate developments: neither by itself establishes what ultimately happens at the rally.

The court and local authority responses

The Delhi High Court declined a request to stop the proposed gathering. In doing so, it recorded the police assurance that authorities would take lawful measures to regulate the demonstration and preserve public order. That is not a judicial declaration that every proposed activity is exempt from local rules.

What visitors and protesters should know

People travelling through Connaught Place should distinguish between the closure of Central Park and the wider commercial area. Traffic diversions, security checkpoints or access restrictions may change as police issue instructions closer to the event.
